It has become well-known over the past few days, that Microsoft is going to give Windows 10 for free to Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users, which is great; or is it?
In my opinion, this is Microsoft's way of competing with Apple, now that they offer most of their updates for free. However there are many other opinions on the Internet, about Microsoft's decision.
One of the most popular, is that they are trying to find illegitimate copies of Windows.l, which makes sense. When you update your system, a message could show up saying that you have a pirated version of Windows and you have to stop using it in the next couple of days or your OS won't let you logo in again.
One of the other theories is, that because of the numerous complaints about Windows 8, Microsoft decided to roll out the update for free in order to gain the people's trust again. Quite possible if you ask me.
Finally another really interesting theory is Windows 8 hides a really big problem, like security holes or something even worse. By offering Windows 10 for free, Microsoft wants to cover up this problem and hide it under the carpet before someone notices. Personally I don't think this is the case, because Windows 8 has been available for enough time for someone to find any problems on the OS. Since nobody has, then it's really unlikely.
Sure there are a lot of other "conspiracies" but I think these were the most interesting. What do you think? Which is the most probable case?
